Learning and playing the drums can be beneficial in several ways. It can help teach coordination and possibly help improve motor skills, as well as assist with eye-hand coordination. Learning and playing the drums can also teach an appreciation of musical structures, while also giving a child a way to express themselves. We customarily begin by teaching a student the basics of a four count bar, introducing the components of a basic drum beat. As the student progress with their skills, on the drum set, we move on to more advanced structures, beats and fills, and eventually, specific songs are learned in their entirety.
